Printmaking 2021 - Hardground Etching

You will be taught an intensive range of Hardground etching technical skills in order to create your own original limited edition prints from brass plates.

Inking up the etching plate

All materials will be supplied.

Materials supplied
1 brass plate, hard ground, spray-paint, rags, methylated spirits, turpentine, calcium carbonate, ammonia, ferric chloride, etching ink, 300 gsm paper for 4 prints, newsprint and rollers.

Material requirements

  • 1 A5 Linear image as a source idea.
  • Rubber gloves (at least 2 latex pairs) & protective clothing,
  • 1 x etching needle/protractor/large needle.
