Photography presents many opportunities to deal with a range of issues in today’s society with image-makers facing the challenge of becoming more technically capable, conceptually confident, and culturally aware than ever before.

Photography is an exceptional medium which has been transformed into a powerful vocal visual phenomenon with exciting possibilities. The programme offers you:

  • Development of technical and conceptual skills
  • Experience in traditional approaches and new perspectives regarding discourse, printing and technology  

The programme begins with a foundation which provides you with a wide exposure to many forms of visual expression and a variety of fundamental skills. A variety of subjects are covered from the nude, landscape, still-life and fashion to documentary, social awareness and abstraction. The photography qualification is consolidated in the second year of study with areas of focus provided for you to increase your opportunity to discover your own visual voice. The course culminates in your chosen area of specialization at third year with the production of a student-orientated professional body of work with a related extended essay.

Academic Fees
R51 350* for SA and SADC students per year

The Registration fee is included in the total fee.

FEES 2017

The projected total academic fees* for 2018 are R 51 350 for local and SADC students. The registration fee is R9000. The registration fee is included in the total fee.

Students from SADC countries pay the same fees as local South African nationals but are responsible for the transaction fees of any Forex. Students are liable for any bank fees for cash deposits.

There are no application fees.

The projected total academic fees* for 2018 are R56 485 for foreign students. The registration fee is R 9000. The registration fee is included in the total price. First year foreign students are required to settle 50% of their fees upon acceptance of an academic space prior to the visa application.

Visa documents will only be generated once payment has been received. If the student is not granted a visa, the fees less the registration fee may be refunded.

PAYMENT OF FEES

Student fees may be paid via the website or directly in person to the admin office. Student fees are required to be settled in full by the 30 May annually.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND INTEREST FREE PAYMENT PLANS

Students can apply for extended payment plans. Fees are to be settled in equal monthly installments from January to December (12 Months) at no interest. The request must be applied for in writing to the Executive Head egeustyn@ruthprowse.co.za at the beginning of each academic year. Applications for extended settlement will not be considered after the 30th January annually.

R9000 for Registration by 01 February 2018 and 11 payments of R 3 850 from the end of February to the end of December 2018.

DISCOUNTS FOR LOCAL AND SADC STUDENTS

Discounts will be allocated for the full settlement of fees by direct transfer as reflected in the School's account or cash received by the administration office. A discount of 10% at Registration by 1 February 2018 and a discount of 5% by 28 February 2018 for full settlement of fees.
