2026 Figure Drawing- Wed Evening

Capturing the Human Form

This intensive, introductory figure drawing course with a live model focuses on the fundamentals of drawing the human figure. Designed for beginners as well as those looking to refresh or deepen their observational drawing skills, the course provides a slightly guided progression through essential techniques and concepts.

We begin with quick, timed gesture drawings (starting from 1-minute poses and building to longer sessions), emphasizing dynamic mark-making to capture movement, energy, and the overall "action" of the pose. From there, we explore a range of foundational exercises, including blind contour drawing and planar analysis, as well as gestural mark-making, shading and anatomical proportions. This will cultivate skill, improve technique, and further facilitate creating work in a fine art or illustrative style, where creativity can be explored.
