Grace YONAMU
The body of work titled Half Life, is the visual representation of a conversation between self and the persona, Kei who represents the relationship between personality disorders and the person who has said disorder. Throughout my body of work, I ask questions about body politics and mental health that Kei always has the answers for which are a reflection of the echo chamber that people with these disorders may face.
My intention is to actualize feelings that cannot be seen and to materialize thoughts, words and feelings that are hard to explain, feelings of passion, obsession, pain and regret, of loneliness and elation which fall within the BPD sphere (Borderline Personality Disorder).
My body of work is inspired by pop art and manga, I use mixed media, found/ scrap board, acrylic paint, acrylic marker, the use of sandpaper, power drills and finger painting.
