Malaika RULE

I have a strong connection to mythology and its exploration of archetypes that continue to resonate. I am fascinated by the stories ancient cultures told to make sense of their world and interpret these stories and fragments in a contemporary space to evoke both a sense of nostalgia and expression.

My work, aesthetically inspired by Norse and Celtic mythologies as well as pagan traditions, focuses on protective armors and amulets. I want my collection to evoke the feeling of childhood play: dressing up, imagining oneself as a warrior princess, and embodying the power of transformation.

I was drawn to Viking and Celtic mythologies because of the rich visual language they offer. Their wide range of imagery allows for variety without being confined to one single style. My vision is rarely fixed at the outset. Instead, it reveals itself whilst working with the materials I have.

I create for the love of creating and because I really enjoy the three-dimensional aspect of designing and creating art objects that can be used for self-expression and my objects of protection for the modern-day warrior.
