2026 Printmaking- SOFTGROUND ETCHING

Create your own original limited edition prints from brass plates and you will be taught an intensive range of Softground etching technical skills. Though this is a stand alone course, it is good to follow the Hardground Course.

The employment of a combination of impressions and softground drawing obtaining textural qualities from differing drawing utensils and papers, as well as direct impressions of objects.  This acid resist is soft enough to pick up a thumb imprint.

All materials will be supplied.

Materials to supplied
1 brass plate, soft ground, spray-paint, rags, methylated spirits, HB pencil, tissue paper turpentine, ferric chloride, etching ink, Fabriano Rosapina 200 gsm paper for 4 prints, newsprint and rollers. Notes will be supplied.

Material requirements

• 1 A5 mage as a source idea with textures if possible.
• Rubber gloves (at least 3 latex pairs) & protective clothing,

ABOUT THE LECTURER
Eunice Geustyn is a master printmaker with extensive experience with tertiary students and publishing for renowned artists. Her own work is featured in notable collections and Eunice holds a Masters in Fine Art Degree.

If you have registered and your payment has been accepted by the site, you have been accepted to the class and will be added to our class register.
