Shamique SAALIE

My practice explores the emotional impact of relationships through botanically inspired wearable sculptures. The body of work seeks to show how connection, whether nurturing or painful, leaves lasting imprints and shapes the ways we grow.

I use floral forms as metaphors for the lessons, connection leaves behind moments of love, loss, vulnerability, and resilience. Just as nature moves through cycles of bloom, decay, and renewal, my work reflects the continuous transformations shaped by human interaction.

Placement on the body is central, turning each piece into an emotional map. A form may constrict, embrace, or extend outward, embodying feelings of suppression, openness, or growth. Through this interplay of body, form, and metaphor, I create intimate works that balance fragility and strength.

By merging natural symbolism with the human form, I externalize inner experiences and make them tangible.
